M-WERC names Jeff Anthony director of Energy Innovation Center

Anthony will oversee center that received nearly $1 million from State of Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE – The Mid-West Energy Research Consortium is excited to formally announce Jeff Anthony’s role as Director of the Energy Innovation Center (EIC) as well as a member of M-WERC’s business development team. Anthony brings more than twenty years of experience in energy and project management experience.

“We’re very happy to have Jeff on our team, his experience working with utilities, start-ups, and renewable energy organizations is a great asset for M-WERC and we are looking forward to continued success,” said Alan Perlstein, executive director and chief executive officer of M-WERC.

Anthony brings a diverse background in wind energy, utilities, nuclear energy, and research and development. A Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin native, began his career with General Electric, followed by We Energies and most recently led the membership and business development efforts at the American Wind Energy Association in Washington, D.C. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering and an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

“I’m very excited to be a part of M-WERC,” said Anthony. “This region of the country has a long history as a hub for new and exciting technologies and look forward to building on that history to create a global center of excellence in the energy power and control sector. The EIC is a perfect showcase for the future of the industry and Milwaukee.”

 

M-WERC was founded in 2009 by three universities and four industrial companies to focus on conducting collaborative and transformative energy-related seed research. It has grown to more than 75 members with an annual budget of more than $1 million.

Today M-WERC is dedicated to making the Midwest region the leader in energy, power and controls. It has five core mission areas: technology innovation; market and industry expansion; public policy support; workforce development; and organization development and strategic collaboration.

Jeff Anthony joined the Mid-West Energy Research Consortium (M-WERC) in mid-2014 as the Director of Business Development and Energy Innovation Center (EIC).  In this capacity, Jeff is now responsible growing the membership and industry participation in M-WERC, as it expands its footprint to an eight state region in the Upper Midwest.

Jeff’s industry experience covers a number of technologies and activities during his 25 years working at both for-profit and non-profit organizations.  Most recently, Jeff worked in the wind energy industry, working with electric utilities across the U.S. and leading the membership and business development activities for the wind energy industry trade association in Washington D.C.  Prior to that, Jeff worked for Wisconsin Electric / We Energies in the nuclear power area, and later held roles in the R&D, transmission, and strategic planning functions there.

Mr. Anthony received his undergraduate degree in nuclear engineering from Purdue University and also has an MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
