M-WERC – Development efforts in Century City create momentum for M-WERC and its members
Developer General Capital Group to develop 50K square foot spec building
MILWAUKEE – Executives from Mid-West Energy Research Consortium were on hand Thursday for the groundbreaking event at Century City, a ￼Milwaukee redevelopment project on the eastern portion of ￼the former A.O. Smith and Tower Automotive site south of Capitol Drive at North 31st Str
The groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday took place just south of M-WERC’s corporate headquarters on 27th street, which includes nearly 70,000 square feet of the former Eaton research campus.
“Its great to be a part of the solution to creating jobs and redevelop this part of our city,” said M-WERC Executive Director and CEO Alan Perlstein. “At M-WERC we’re excited to see this kind of progress and look forward to continuing to support the team at General Capital.”
M-WERC was founded in 2009 by three universities and four industrial companies to focus on conducting collaborative and transformative energy-related seed research. It has grown to more than 75 members with an annual budget of more than $1 million.
Today M-WERC is dedicated to making the Midwest region the leader in energy, power and controls. It has five core mission areas: technology innovation; market and industry expansion; public policy support; workforce development; and organization development and strategic collaboration.
